We, the people

Farez Rahman

Farez founded Rocksteady because he didn't have anything better to do in his spare time. Little did he know that people would actually be interested in calling him up to arrange climbing activities for them. Luckily, Farez knows a bit about climbing (it's what he does when not at his desk) and luckily he knows a lot of people who take other people climbing for a living. He then had this idea that climbing could positively contribute to the economic wellbeing of areas that we go climbing in. This combination, and a complete labour of love, keeps him busy with Rocksteady these days. Farez is from Malaysia, and currently lives in London, UK.

Charlotte Crämer

Photos of Charlotte Cramer, rock climber and staff, Rocksteady Climbing AdventuresCharlotte loves climbing especially at nice places outdoors, and she has really been everywhere for this, from England to the Philippines. After having heard about Farez's plans to set up Rocksteady, Charlotte was immediately keen on being involved. She's from Germany and earns her living as a Personal Assistant to a very busy boss, which just means one thing: her efficiency and attention to detail is second to none!

Liutauras Diu

Photo of Liutauras Diu, rock climber and staff, Rocksteady Climbing AdventuresLike everyone involved in Rocksteady, Liutauras is a keen climber and just loves the outdoor experience. He may be the geek of the team but still climbs a mean rock face, or even ice! Even his living is earned by climbing the urban landscape as a rope access technician. Liutauras' technical knowledge about climbing and bolting means he's the guy that we go to instead of looking up a climbing dictionary. This also means he's the best person to tell us how we can best help local guides with the resources they need to set up and maintain climbing routes. However, the most interesting fact about Liutauras from a climbing perspective is probably that he comes from Lithuania, where the highest point in the whole country is just over 293 metres!

He is also the president of the first rock climbing club in Croatia, Marulianus. He is certified by the Croatian Mountaineering Association. If you have climbed in Dalmatia, you would have undoubtedly have climbed on one of the many routes that Dani and his colleagues have set up. Dedicated to the climbing industry, he recently secured some government money to help fund the cleanup and replacement of old bolts on climbing routes in and around Split, which, until recently, have all been done voluntarily. Dani is also currently the captain of the Croatian National Youth Climbing Team, whose members all compete at international level and in the Climbing World Cup.
